National Special Education Day is celebrated on December 2nd each year to commemorate the signing of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) in 1975. The IDEA was the first federal law to ensure that children with disabilities have access to the same free public education as other children. Before the law, many children with disabilities were denied learning opportunities.

*Recognize the accomplishments of special education teachers, support staff, service
providers, administrators, students, and parents.
*Thank special education teachers for their hard work .
*Learn about different types of disabilities, assistive technology, and disability etiquette.
We hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving Break! We will see everyone back at school on Monday, Dec. 2nd.
The MJHS Student Council has been collecting donations for the local animal shelter. Today the kids took a break from school to visit all the animals and deliver all their gifts. They were tasked with bathing, walking, organizing supplies and of course loving on all the pets. We left with 2 pet adoptions. Please check out all the animal photos and take one home for Christmas.

The MJHS Student Council members have been challenging others to give back. This challenge has them collecting and matching each other's nonperishable food items. These items were then donated to the Marion School District Food Pantry. The students bagged the items for collection at a later time. 'Tis the season for GIVING!
Bright Futures Marion gave Coach Neeley and students in her PE class an opportunity to work out a little differently today. They used this time to pack, unload, and load for families in Marion School District. The students were able to earn volunteer hours and help their community thanks to their teacher, Mrs. Julie Coveny (Director of Federal Programs), Mrs, Ruth Hegwood-Mills (District Supervisor of Instructional) and Ms. Kennidi Ridgell (School Based Site Coordinator).

These star students get to class on time between each and EVERY bell. We will continue to pick students each week who are not tardy. These students will receive a FREE ticket to a home game. Great job! Keep watching the time and getting to class ON TIME ALL THE TIME!!!
9th grade students attended the ASU Mid-South Exposure Fair in the arena today to help them decide if they want to enroll in technical center courses next school year. Students rotated to four stations: Computer Engineering, Health Science, Mechatronics, and Welding. Registration for these programs will begin in February.

Happy National Educational Support Professionals (ESP) Day!.
This day honors the many professionals who support students, educators, and school leadership, including secretaries, classroom aides, cafeteria workers, maintenance workers, security, and bus drivers.
We are Thankful for all of the ESP Staff that support us at MJHS!
