Setting a new school record, 66 Marion Junior High students earned All-Region Band honors during tryouts held Saturday in Cabot.

“This is an incredible accomplishment for these students and our program as a whole,” said Marion Director of Bands Monty Hill. “We are proud of our students and the work they put in to achieve this result.”

With 66 All-Region Band members, Marion had twice as many selections as every school in the region except one. Only Cabot, a 7A school with two junior highs and a ninth-grade academy, had more all-region selections. Other schools in the region include West Memphis, Searcy, Beebe, Lonoke, Bald Knob, White County Central, Riverview, Harding Academy, Wynne, Des Arc, Stuttgart, and McCrory.

In 5 years, Marion has increased its number of junior high All-Region selections from 15 to 66.
