Band 2023

The largest band in school history will take the field this fall when the 160-member Marion Patriot Pride Marching begins the 2023 competitive marching season.

Fresh off a highly successful performance in the National Independence Day Parade in Washington, D.C., the band immediately began two-a-day rehearsals in preparation for the competition show that will make its premiere at the first Patriot home football game on August 25.

Marion is also sporting a new look with three new drum majors. They are juniors Noah Sheals, Kaelynn Wright, and Kaitlynn Wright.

According to Marion Director of Bands Monty Hill, “This is an amazing group of student musicians that is set to put Marion on the map yet once again.”

Last season, the Marion Band earned three grand champion awards. Over the course of 14 days, the band defeated 48 total bands from four different states across three competitions.

Competition dates for this fall are as follows:

  • October 7: Mid South Invitational, Jonesboro
  • October 14: Gibson County Invitational, Dyer, Tenn.
  • October 16: Region Marching Assessment, Paragould
  • October 21: Paragould Marching Invitational, Paragould
  • October 28: A-State Open, Jonesboro
  • November 1: State Marching Contest, War Memorial Stadium, Little Rock.
