Two members of the Marion School District Board of Education were recently recognized for their contributions to the district by the Arkansas School Board Association (ASBA).

Gary Wehrum received the ASBA Master Board Member Award. This award is given to board members who have earned at least 50 hours of board development training.

Daryel Jackson received the ASBA Pinnacle Award. The Pinnacle Award is awarded to board members who have earned at least 200 hours of continuing education.

“It is a true honor to be able to work with board members of the caliber of Gary and Daryel,” said Dr. Glen Fenter, Marion superintendent. “Serving on a school board, and being an effective member, requires hard work, time, and dedication. These awards are a testament to the efforts these dedicated board members are making to serve the families of our district.”

“I commend the entire board for their work,” Fenter continued. “Their leadership, guidance, and support is the reason we are able to do the innovative things necessary to provide a world-class education for our students.”

ASBA is a nonprofit organization that provides leadership, training, advocacy, and specialized services to school boards throughout Arkansas.
