The Marion Patriot Pride Band broke another school record over the weekend with 57 students earning a position in the ASBOA Region IV All-Region Senior High Band. Auditions were held Saturday in Cabot.

Additionally, another school record was shattered with Marion having 24 students qualify for All-State auditions that will be held February 8 at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro.

Marion also had 7 students earn 1st chair, which was the highest total by any school in Region IV.

Along with the 67 Marion Junior High students who earned All-Region accolades back in December, Marion now has 124 students in grades 8-12 qualify for All-Region (another school record).

The complete breakdown of All-Region qualifiers from Saturday’s event:

  1. Cabot: 127 total - 58 All-State qualifiers (6 first chair)

  2. Marion: 57 total - 24 All-State qualifiers (7 first chairs)

  3. Searcy: 21 total - 8 All-State qualifiers (0 first chairs)

  4. West Memphis: 20 total - 2 All-State qualifiers (1 first chair)

  5. Riverview: 10 total - 1 All-State qualifier (0 first chairs)

  6. Harding Academy: 8 total - 3 All-State qualifiers (2 first chairs)

  7. Stuttgart: 8 total - 1 All-State qualifier (0 first chairs)

  8. Beebe: 6 total - 0 All-State qualifiers (0 first chairs)

  9. Bald Knob: 5 total - 1 All-State qualifier (0 first chairs)

  10. Lonoke: 3 total - 0 All-State qualifiers (0 first chairs)

  11. Wynne - 2 total - 0 All-State 1ualifiers (0 first chairs)

The Marion All-Region Band entourage will travel to Searcy on January 24-25 to participate in the ASBOA Region IV All-Region Clinic on the campuses of Harding University and Searcy High School.

Concerts will be held at Searcy High School on January 25 beginning at 1 p.m.
